Roy Hargrove is a Grammy winning contemporary jazz trumpet player originally from Texas. During high school he was discovered by Wynton Marsalis when he visited Roy's highshcool. Roy then went to Berklee college of music during the 80s and then The New School in Manhattan and his career took off from there. He came to great success due to his fresh, original sound that can be described as a mix of jazz and funk feels. The music performed on this show will be all Roy Hargrove's original music and creative re-imaginations of standards the embody the musical personality of Roy Hargrove.
